With the blessing of His Eminence, Archbishop Kyrill, a “Liturgical Practicum” will be convened from 13-17 February 2025 (President’s Day Weekend) in Phoenix, AZ. This is the inaugural practicum, with the intention, that it will become an annual event.
The event is open to:
- all potential candidates to ordination.
- all readers and subdeacons who wish to increase their liturgical knowledge in both praxis and theory.
- all deacons who wish to gain liturgical knowledge in praxis and academics.
- all priests who have not had, or completed, an academic theological education.
- all priests who wish to increase their liturgical knowledge.
An intense tentative schedule has been devised that includes daily Divine Liturgies and other daily Divine Services; sessions in practical liturgics and rubrics; and two introductory cohorts in theology (New Testament) and liturgical theology. The academic cohorts, via digital means in theology and liturgical theology will continue onwards through the year until the next annual liturgical practicum. The cohorts will conclude in the following practicum, and two new cohorts will be introduced.
Participation in the practicum, and the continuing education programs associated with it, in no way guarantee ordination in the Western American Diocese – ROCOR; however, they do increase the potential of ordination for a candidate.
Keynote Speaker:
Hieromonk Peter (Karakazoff)
Old Holy Virgin Cathedral, San Francisco, CA
Fr. Peter ran our practicum last year, and it was a wild and intense success among the clergy of Arizona, and all who were able to access the videos.
With a full 20 years of service in the heart of the Western American Diocese as reader, monk, deacon, Archdeacon, and now Hieromonk, Fr. Peter’s expertise in liturgical matters is second to none.
